Amyloidosis of the Tongue

Summary:

       Amyloidosis is a disorder of the protein metabolism characterized by abnormal extracellular deposition of protein masses with a fibrillar structure. The authors describe a case of combined diffuse primary amyloidosis with the main manifestations in the region of the tongue which imitated a malignant tumour, and draw attention to the pitfalls of diagnosis.
