Summary:

Although a stimulating effect of prostaglandins (PGEl) both on growth and differentiation of cystic cells in epithelial cultures has been shown, the urinary excretion of prostanoids and possible relationship with systemic changes in the vasoactive System of patients with autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD) have been studied to a lesser extent. The aim of our study was to study urinary excretion of selected prostanoids and a possible relationship with their renaUsystemic effect, specially the effect on renal function, extent of cystic changes and/or arterial hypertension. In 15 patients with ADPKD and 7 controls concentrations of urinary prostanoids - TXB2, PGF-2a, a PGF-2(3 and 8 iso-PGF2a, were determined by the ELISA method In these prostanoids no significant changes were found between the group of ADPKD patients and the control group, ohly urinary excretion of PGF-2(3 in the ADPKD group was increased at the borderline of significance.

Key words: prostaglandins, cysty, polycystic kidney disease, arterial hypertension.
