In the total saliva of voluntary donors with a different index of bleeding time of the interdental papillae the authors assessed, on the basis of saliva the capacity to inhibit lipid peroxidation, its antioxidant activity. Between the groups with a higher and lower index of haemorrhagic diathesis the activity did not differ significantly. The same applies to the uric acid level, described as the main antioxidant of total saliva.
