Ultrasonographic Examination of the Achilles Tendon in Rheumatology

Summary:

       The Achilles tendon is relatively frequently affected in different rheumatic diseases. The authors present a review of possible ultrasonographic findings in the diagnosis of acute and chronic tendinitis. The pitfall in the evaluation of chronic tendinitis is the differentiation of degenerative changes and minor ruptures. A frequent associated finding is also affection of both bursae.
