Summary:

Tumours of the head and neck are among the most aggressive malignancies with a high incidence of metastases. Multiple tumours in patients with carcinoma in the ENT area influence adversely the prognosis. From a group of 61 patients with tumours in the area of head and neck five developed secondarily a primary duplicit tumour in another part of the body. The submitted paper deals with an analysis of the development of duplicities of tumours in ENT patients in particular from the etiopathogenetic aspect. With regard to the high incidence of multiple tumours in patients with tumours in the ENT area it is important to keep this fact in mind during diagnosis and to use an active approach to the detection of secondarily primary tumours, in particular in the rea of the lungs.

Key words: tumours of head and neck, duplicities, etiopathogenesis.
