Summary: „The enlightment period“ in the second half of the 18th century brought new view on the negative results of the institutional
care in orphanages. The aim to improve the care of orphans and unattended children in the region of former
Austrian Empire resulted in the year 1789 in the new law about the foster care. The law incorporated ten principles
how to provide, control and finance the foster care in our region.
