The authors evaluated clinically the effect of preparation Seal and Protect of De Trey Dentsply Co. on hypersensitive dentin. In 37 patients with 150 treated teeth they results demonstrated a marked decline of hypersensitivity within a time interval of 1 and 3 months. On a check-up examination after 1 month complaints receded in 137 teeth, 13 remained without effect or a relapse occurred within a short time. After 3 months improvement persisted in 108 teeth, a relapse occurred in 42. A check-up after 6 months revealed restored sensitivity in 127 teeth The material is a further alternative for clinical practice. More permanent improvement can be achieved by repeated application after 3–4-month intervals.
