Summary:

The middle cervical cyst belongs to relatively frequent diseases. In their contribution the authors describe the case of an atypically localized hyoid bone in a case of relapsing middle cervical cyst as a probable cause of insufficiently performed primary operation. The finding of a relapsing middle cervical cyst or fistula should result in a radical procedure with removal of hyoid bone and residual tissues of the ducts below and above hoid bone according to Sistrunk in a way similar to primary operation.

Key words: relapsing middle cervical cyst, ductus thyreoglossus, hyoid bone, CT examination, therapy, Sistrunk radical operation.
