Lukáš, J., Betka, J., Klozar, J.

Klinika ORL a chirurgie hlavy a krku VFN Motol a 1. LF UK Praha, přednosta prof. MUDr. J. Betka, DrSc.

Summary:

In the communication, the authors report on their experience with the management of injuries to the facial skeleton. They analyze a group of 23 patients sustaining facial skeletal fracture. The most frequent cause of injury were criminal acts (14 patients, 60.8%), the age group at highest risk are males in their thirties (12 pts, 52.1%). The authors describe very good results with the use of miniplates for reconstructions of impression frontal cavity fractures. The need for artificial drainage between the nasal and frontal cavities remains to be questionable. The authors also report encouraging results with the use of silicon plates in extensive defects of retromarginal orbital fractures.

Key words: impression frontal cavity fracture, miniplate, retromarginal orbital fracture, silicon plate.
