Sexual Function and Sexual Activities in Female Schizophrenic Patients

Summary:

       The authors have compared answers of 60 female patiens (18 – 59 years) with diagnosis of schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder with the answers of 703 women of the same age from the representative survey of sexual behavior in general population in the Czech Republic. There were found a higher frequency of sexual dysfunctions in patient group in their past history (36 % vs. 15 %) as well as in the time of the research (33 % vs. 11 %). In the past the most frequent dysfunction in female schizophrenics were algo- and dyspareunias, low sexual interest was found to be the most common dysfunction in the present. Forty seven percents of patients did not need any sexual satisfaction at all. In the patient group also a higher frequency of sexual activities centered to the sexual satisfaction of the male partner (e.g. fellatio, ejaculation into the mouth etc.) compared with activities in the control group was found.
