Hrušák D.,Walter J., Pavlíková G.

Stomatologická klinika FN, oddělení ústní, čelistní a obličejové chirurgie, Plzeň, přednosta doc. MUDr. A. Zicha, CSc.

Summary:

Two cases of calcifying odontogenic cyst (COC) are presented. COC represent a group of benign odontogenic tumours with good prognosis, but there is a possible recurrence. The first clinical case of an 8-year-old male patient reports an accidental detection of the tumor located in the right mandibular angle. Clinical findings, x-ray examination, surgery and postoperative reparation are documented. The second case described is a 16-year old female with chronic symptoms of left maxillary sinus inflammation, where a COC associated with odontoma was found. In some cases of COC coincidence with other types of odontogenic tumors is known.

Key words: jaw tumours – odontogenic cyst – calcifying cyst – mandible – maxilla
