Summary:
The authors evaluate a group of 24 patients indicated for early magnetic resonance examination
after surgery of gliomas grade G I - G IV. They explain the importance of the method and technique
of MR examinations made within three days after surgery, i.e. before the onset of reparative
changes. The authors discuss technical aspects of the examination algorithm and analyze different
types of intensification of the signal after administration of the contrast material with the aim to
differentiate tumourous and non-tumourous enhancement in postoperative conditions. Based on
MR documentation and evaluation of the clinical status from the aspect of the neurosurgeon the
patients are indicated for reoperation, usually in case of G I to G II.
