Summary: Magnetic resonance – a diagnostic imaging tool without ionizing radiation – is more often used in
prenatal diagnostics nowadays. Prenatal MR is especially suitable for the diagnosis of congenital
anomalies of the central nervous system. The purpose of this article is to describe the change of
diagnosis originally specified by ultrasound (holoprosencephaly) on the bases of prenatal and
postnatal MR examinations (bilateral open lip schizencephaly and septo-optic dysplasia).
