In a brief survey the authors instructs on the significance of the diptera maggots in medicine fromits historical and present perspective.They pursue their positive influence uponwound healing. They also describe the case ofmyiasis in the wound of the auricle area in amale patient from the Southeastern Moravia and a suprising finding of the spinocellular carcinoma at the basis of the wound. They place emphasis upon the need to search for the primary cause of the wound in case of myiasis and consider diagnostic risks related to the maggot infestation of the skin tumor.
