Summary: Early Gastric Cancer, Contemporary Diagnosis
and Endoscopic Treatment
On the basis of the most statistical data it is possible to
shown decreasing incidence of gastric cancer during the
last few years. Early cancer becomes uncommon endosco-
pic finding. Symptoms of the early gastric cancer are not
characteristic and histology features are different. The
role of Helicobacter pylori in carcinogenesis is the object
of intensive investigation. Paramount of the diagnosis is
proper endoscopic examination together with biopsy of
valuable specimens. Only microscopically examination of
the whole specimen can display invasion of neoplasm to
surrounding tissues and it is able either to confirm or to
exclude the diagnosis of early cancer. Laser induced
fluorescence is the method of choice of early cancer treat-
ment. The technique of endoscopic mucosectomy has been
recently introduced.
