Summary:

The use of sedatives and hypnotics is fairly widespread nowadays and different explanations of this phenomenon are given. One of the reasons is the inability to cope with noise. The submitted work is focused on evaluation of the acoustic comfort in a dwelling area with apartment houses built in Slovakia by the prefabrication technology and investigation of the possible negative impact of non-specific effects on the health of the population. The authors discuss the health status of respondents. In the paper the authors mention the maximum assessed noise levels (LAmax) of the most disturbing types of noise listed by respondents in an investigation using questionnaires. The authors pay attention to the problem of noise in apartments and the use sleeping pills.
