Cholelithiasis in childhood

Summary:

       Concrements in the gall bladder and in the biliary tract, and their complications are the most frequent disorders of the biliary tract in adult patients. In countries with a high standard of living, 10-20 % of the population is affected. They also belong to the affections which are frequent cause of hospitalization. In children their occurrence is rare.They are found more often in adolescents. However, they can occur in any age group. The authors present a review of this problem including case histories with present a review of this problem including case histories with various clinical manifestations of cholelithiasis in children of different ages that have been examined and treated at the Department of Child Surgery and at the Department for Children and Adolescents at the University Hospital Královské Vinohrady.
