Summary:
Relapsing polychondritis (RP) is a rare, multisystem disorder of unknown aetiology, characterised by inflammation and destruction of cartilaginous tissue in various
anatomical regions, including tracheobronchial tree. We
report on 18-year-old woman with RP. Bronchoscopy
showed severe stenosis of trachea and both main bronchi.
After bronchoscopy the patient required mechanical dilatation and ventilation. Then tracheostomy was indicated.
To assure ventilation, tracheostomical canyla and Dumon Y stent were used. After 20 months from Implantation of Dumon Y stent patient is well, able to do daily
activities.
