Pilinová A., Šalandová M., Krutina M.

Výzkumný ústav stomatologický, Praha,

Summary:

The objective of the investigation was comparison of the cariosity of teeth in two groups of twelve-year old children in four places in the Central Bohemian region - Benešov, Kralupy, Neratovice and Kolín. In 1984 stomatological examinations were implemented in 586 children, in 1998 in 470 children. The authors investiga- ted the following indicators: DMF of teeth and its constituents and urinary fluoride excretion (this will be the subject of a separate paper). It was reveled that the cariosity of teeth practically did not change in Kralupy ( 2.32 as compared with 2.26 DMF). In Benešov , Neratovice and Kolín the cariosity of teeth increased. The number of teeth with untreated caries per child increased in three places, only in Kolín it remained at the same level. The restorative index declined in the course of 14 years to 23.5% in Neratovice. Only in Kolín improvement was recorded and the restorative index was higher than in 1984 - 78%. Based on differences in the cariosity and state of dentition in different localities it would be indicated to ensure oral health in an aimed manner based on needs in the locality and not as an overall provision as it was the case in the past.

Key words: cariosity of teeth - state of dentition - restorative index
