Summary:
This article aims to specify indications for ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM) and to encourage the use of this method, with the appropriate interpretation of results, in broad medical practice. The correct choice of patients and the precise interpretation of results enables targeted and controlled treatment of
arterial hypertension, and prevents overuse of pharmacotherapy in patients with white coat syndrome. It
helps to evaluate the efficacy of long-term medication regarding physiological daily arterial blood pressure
variance and the pharmacokinetics of the prescribed drugs.
