Summary:
The authors describe the translabyrinthine approach to the pontocerebellar angle -
trepanation and intracranial stage. As a basis they use topographic-anatomical studies and surgical
practice comprising 38 operations. They emphasize perfect knowledge of the topographic anatomy
of the temporal bone for achieving an adequate approach, for overcoming the barrier of the dura
mater in the posterior fossa and for mastering the otoneurosurgical technique in the intracranial
stage, which is also described in detail.
