Mikulík R., Dufek M.

Cerebrovaskulární centrum, Neurologická klinika FN U sv. Anny, Brno

Summary:

Introduction: The efficacy and safety of thrombolytic therapy has been proved in clinical studies. A thrombolytic program was introduced in our clinic in 1998. Comparison of our own results with results of other thrombolytic studies especially the NINDS study is presented. Material and methods: It is a prospective open follow up study of so far thrombolized patients in our clinic applying criteria similar to those of the NINDS study. The average baseline NIHSS was 13.6, the average time from onset of symptoms to treatment was 2.3 hours. Results: After 3 months there were 33% patients with NIHSS 0.1, 38,7% withmRS 0.1 and 51.6% withmRS 0–2. The mortality was 12.9%.The rate of total, symptomatic and asymptomatic intracerebral haemorrhage was 12.9%, 6.4% and 3.2%, respectively. Conclusion: Stroke patients treated by thrombolysis in our clinic reached comparable results as in the NINDS study.
