The authors present their experience in the treatment of 20 patients (10 women and 10 men), treated for odontogenic keratocysts (OKC) of the jaw bones. In the group of 71 patients treated for odontogenic cysts,OKCrepresented 18%.A multicentric occurrence of OKC was recorded in five patients (25%), a tendency to postoperation relapses was observed in eight patients (40%). Loer jaw was site of a predilection of OKC (75%). Six female patients met the criteria for clinical manifestation of the Gorling syndrome (NBCCS). A malignant transformation into odontogenic carcinoma occurred in connection with postoperation relapse of OKC in one patient. In connection with prevention of postoperation relapses of OKC the authors draw attention to the importance of modification of operation procedures and exact histopathological and immunohistochemical classification.
