Summary:
The assessment of health-related quality of life has become an important indicator for evaluating the quality of healthcare. While the use of health status measures to assess health related quality of life is well established in many areas of medicíně, their use in dentistry has not been widespread. However, recent research has highlighted that oral disorders háve emotional and psycho-social consequences that are just as serious as for other disorders, and that there is a need to assess the impact. In the introduction, this páper briefly deals with the terms quality of life and health-related quality of life. Thereafter it concentrates on the concept of oral health-related quality of life and reviews the literatuře regarding its development and methods of evaluation.
