Summary: Magnetic resonance imaging is the method of choice for imaging of pathological brain stem lesions
in „locked-in“ syndrome. Magnetic resonance angiography can demonstrate an obstructive vascular
lesion in the vertebrobasilar circulation. Some statements on the prognosis in individual cases can
be derived from results obtained from magnetic resonance imaging data.
