Summary:
The authors report on a rare aneurysm of the posterior inferior cerebellar artery (PICA) at the site of
insertion of the choroidal branches in a 30-year-old man. It was manifested by relapsing isolated
intraventricular haemorrhage. After the second attack the originally small aneurysm increased in size
and formed a pseudoaneurysm which was obliterated by spirals in two stages. During the second session
the supplying artery closely to the aneurysm was also obliterated. The authors made an anatomical and
clinical analysis of distal aneurysms of the PICA and discuss contemporary therapeutic possibilities of
these aneurysms.
