Summary:
Objective: To evaluate the incidence of endometrial carcinoma and the therapeutic results in
patients in the stated time period.
Design: Retrospective clinical study.
Setting: Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, First Faculty of Medicine, Prague, Czech
Republic
Methods:An analysis of the available clinical documentation of the patients of the oncological
outpatient service of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
Results: Endometrial carcinoma represents 25.35 % of all malignant tumors of patients in the
oncological outpatient service. An increasing incidence has been observed (from 18.4% to 32.6%).
The overall 5-year survival is 67.5%. No decrease in mortality has been observed. The increasing
number of patients with endometrial carcinoma in our study corresponds to the trend of inciden-
ce of this disease. There are no screening methods for early detection, 93% of women present with
bleeding in menopause or with irregular bleeding in the perimenopausal period.
Conclusion: With regard to ther trend of increasing incidence of endometrial carcinoma, it would
be appropriate to pay increased attention to asymptomatic older women with risk factors in their
history, with the aim of early diagnosis of disease.
