Objective: To describe the technique of complete percutaneous treatment of abdominal aortic aneurysms and to present authors’ initial experience. Materials and methods: In two appropriately selected patients indicated for endovascular treatment of abdominal aortic aneurysm a stentgraft was implanted completely by the percutaneous route. The crucial parameters for the indication of complete percutaneous treatment were: a) a width of the common femoral and iliac arteries minimally 8milimeters without serious tortuosity, b) the wall of the common femoral artery without marked calcifications. Prostar XL Percutaneous Vascular Surgery Device (Perclose, Abbott Laboratories Company, Redwood City, California, USA) was used for closure of the common femoral artery puncture site. Results: The application of sutures and closure of puncture holes in the common femoral arteries were successful in both patients.Permanent haemostasiswas always achieved without the neccesity for surgical closure of the access artery. Conclusion: The automatic percutaneous suture device Prostar XL is safe in the closure of arteries after stentgraft implantation. The application of sutures at the beginning of the endovascular procedure and the closure of the artery at the end are technically easy and effective.
