Research in new substances with analgetic and anti-inflammatory effects continues. Sought for are thera- peutics with a minimum of side-effects because in question is usually long-term treatment. Nimesulid is one of such drugs, being classified among the so-called preferential non-steroid anti-rheumatics (it has certain properties of non-selective non-steroid antirheumatics and simultaneously a preferential inhibitory activity towards cyclo-oxygenase-2) with a minimum of undesirable effects as to the digestive iracl. The hepalolo- xicity of nimesulid is no different from hitherto applied non-steroid antirheumatics.
