Summary: Acquired auditory disorders in children have different causes. They can be stationary
or progressive. Only some which developed suddenly are reversible if they are immediately treated
by peripheral vasodilatating agents. Fluctuating auditory disorders of the inner ear are little known
in children and frequently develop into a progressive severe auditory disorder.
In the submitted case-history the authors draw attention to a case of rare fluctuating auditory
disorder in a four-year-old child caused by autoimmune disease. By detection of the cause (autoimmune
disease) and corticoid treatment not only deafness was prevented but also damage of other
organs caused by the autoimmune disease.
