Summary: The authors assessed in tissues taken from the oral cavity the activity of
leukocytic elastase (LE) using an original substrate (Suc-Ala-Ala-Pro-Ala-MCU). Tissue specimens with a measurable LE activity were incubated with the inhibitor of Suc-Lys(Lau-Ala)-
Ala-Ala-Pro-NHiBu which has a significant inhibitory activity in tissues with different grades
of inflammation.
