Summary:
An unusual čase of myxopapillary ependymoma of the sacrococcygeal region in a 28-year-old female is presented. The tumor appeared clinically as a chronic, repeatedly recurring periproctal abscess. The centrál portion of the lesion was repeatedly evacuated; these masses had a gross appearance of blood clots. Finally, the tumor was surgically removed and histologically examined with the finál diagnosis of myxopapillary ependymoma. The patient is alive and well, without any recurrence four years after operation. The histogenesis of the lesion as well as its differential diagnosis are discussed.
