Author summarizes recent knowledge about vitiligo etiopathogenesis and introduces practical scheme of patient examination, differential diagnosis, algorithm of basic patient’s history and further examination including laboratory tests. Author reviews the contemporary available therapeutic modalities which are differentiated according to specific vitiligo types and discusses in details the most common methods - topical corticosteroids and phototherapy with regard to her as well as international experience. Perspective drugs and topical therapy, phototherapy, microsurgery and depigmentation techniques are also mentioned. The quality of life of patients with vitiligo is discussed and education as well as bilateral doctor and patient motivation are stressed out.
