Summary:
The authors describe a case of metastasis into the left atrium in a 40 years old woman,
who had several oncological diseases in anamnesis. She underwent breast ablation for
cancer, amputation of the left lower extremity for chondrosarcoma of the knee joint
and hysterectomy for leiomyosarcoma. In the last year she was operated on several
metastases of leiomyosarcoma in subcutaneous localization and under pleura. In the
PET/CT examination, a focus of increased metabolism of glucose was discovered in the
left atrium, which was subsequently visualized during echocardiographic examination.
The cardiosurgeon asked for examination by magnetic resonance, which confirmed
the finding and displayed perfectly morphology and gave more precision about
the relation to adjacent structures.
Key words:
magnetic resonance – PET/CT – metastasis – heart
