Summary: The authors present a case-study of anaerobic sepsis following septic thrombophlebitis of the internal jugu
lar vein caused by progression of paratonsillar infection during acute tonsillopharyngitis. AU the features of
the illness correspond to Lemierre syndrome, a recently rather rare but ever more emerging severe compli
cation of acute tonsillopharyngitis.
