In 36 patients with refractory epilepsy, with partial seizures with or without secondary generalization the efficacy of „add-on“ gabapentin therapy was: median seizure frequency reduction was 34%, the responder rate was 30.5%, two patients (5.5%) were seizure-free, 41.7% of patients considered themselves improved. The tolerability was excellent. In some patients the interictal mood state improved, one case report is discussed in detail.
