The contribution analyzed definitions of biomechanic chains and their individual types from tne point of view of biomechanics. Main attention is devoted to properties of open and closed kinetic chains. Particular emphasis is laid on interpretation in influencing tne degree of freedom of joints in a segmental model under physiological and pathological conditions
