The authors presents to determine the magnitude of a stress distribution and a deformation around the head of the mandible and an articular disc. In the first part he briefly pays attention to the anatomy and the pathology of the temporomandibular joint. In the second part he describes a calculation by means of Finite Element Method (FEM).
