Klobučníková K.

I. neurologická klinika FN, Bratislava

Summary:

The aim of the paper was to analyse publications dealing with the coincidence of multiple sclerosis (MS) with epilepsy in order to clarify the possible pathophysiological relation of the two diseases. From the published clinical studies can be concluded that demyelination plaques can be the source of epileptic seizures. Location, number, size of the plaques as well as the clinical form of MS may play a decisive role.

Key words: epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, demyelination plaques
