Summary:
The present modern classification of tumours of the CNS and its coats was facilitated in particular
by the technical development of histopathological and radiodiagnostic examination methods. Due
to modern techniques and equipment it was possible to divide tumours into types and subtypes and
assess their typing, grading and staging. Based on these facts it is possible to assess the grade of
benignity or malignity of tumours in relation to their site, growth rate, patient’s age and also
according to radiological pictures, native as well as after administration of contrast agents. The
objective of the work is to make the radiological and neuroradiological public familiar with the most
recent classification WHO (1993).
