Ganglion in the Tarsal Tunnel

Summary:

       The authors describe the clinical observation of the tarsal tunnel syndrome with a compressive lesion of the n.plantaris med.in a 39-year-old female patient.The cause of the syndrome was an extraneural ganglion (ganglionic cyst)2.5x1.3x0.8 cm in size in the plantar portion of the tarsal tunnel.The ganglion was diagnosed by ultrasound (US)examination and magnetic resonance tomography (MRI).It was associated with the subtalar joint and was successfully exstirpated.Imaging methods US,CT and MRI may be an asset in the topical and etiological diagnosis of compressive neural lesions in the tarsal tunnel.
