Summary: The authors describe the clinical observation of the tarsal tunnel syndrome with a compressive lesion
of the n.plantaris med.in a 39-year-old female patient. The cause of the syndrome was an extraneural
ganglion (ganglionic cyst)2.5x1.3x0.8 cm in size in the plantar portion of the tarsal tunnel. The ganglion
was diagnosed by ultrasound (US)examination and magnetic resonance tomography (MRI).It was
associated with the subtalar joint and was successfully exstirpated.Imaging methods US,CT and MRI
may be an asset in the topical and etiological diagnosis of compressive neural lesions in the tarsal
tunnel.
