Summary:

       In recent decade, computer technologies have been applied in a lot of medical spheres. The efforts of increasing the accuracy in the insertion of spinal instrumentation and decreasing possible associated complications have led to the development of navigated spondylosurgery. At present, there exists the third generation of navigation systems. The authors having one-year’s experience with using this technology aimed at pointing out the most important moments in the development of spinal nagivation systems, at describing the basic principles of navigated spondylosurgery, and at presenting its possibilities together with their own experience.
