The journal “Česko-slovenská pediatrie” serves the Czech and Slovak pediatric community for already sixty years. The aimof this paper is to determine the imminent tasks for the journal on its way to being listed in citation indexes. It is suggested that the first step to achieve better international recognition is to increase the respect to local pediatric traditions and domestic authors. The article stresses the importance of quoting papers by local authors, particularly those that were published in this journal. On the other hand, it also points to the value of secondary publication of papers that appeared in international journals in Czech or Slovak version.
