The contribution is based on the authors’ own experience as well as the presently available information on digital mammography in world literature. Digital mammography belongs to standard modes of examination in the world at this time. In comparison with the classical screen-film mammography, there is a considerably improved quality of the image, lower radiation load for the examined woman and superstructural computing functions, which are very helpul in the medical diagnostic evaluation of the image. Last, but not least, the time saving aspects in the examination and diagnostic part of the process of mamography should be mentioned.
