We sought to compare the financial expenditures associated with combined anesthesia wit h remifentanil to financial expenditures associated with routine anesthesia. The difference was 75 Czech crowns/hour in favor of routine anesthesia. However, better hemodynamic stability, lower incidence of complications and better postoperative comfort of a patient led us to the introduction of remifentanil to routine anesthesiologic practice even when financial expenditures associated with this type of anesthesia have risen mildly.
