Summary: The authors describe a 75-year-old man with acute abdominal disease leading to lethal prerenal
failure. Necropsy revealed massive visceral panniculitis with a small adenocarcinoma of the head
of the pancreas. The authors assume that a very rare, early paraneoplastic syndrome was involved.
