Summary:
It is important for general practitioners that some treatment modalities are clearly effective in the prevention and treatment of alcohol related problems from the point of view of evidence based medicíně. General practitioners are likely to use brief intervention, motivation enhancement, naltrexone, referral to cognitive-behavioral therapy, family therapy and Alcoholic Anonymous.
