Onychomycosis and the Chronic Venous Insufficiency

Summary:

       Chronic venous insufficiency of the lower extremities forms presently one of the most common diseases of our population. The authors observed the changes in the nails in a group of 413 patients with the varicose complex of the lower extremities. Clinical signs of diseased nails were presented in 239 cases (57.9 %), a positive microscopical finding could be demonstrated in 147 cases (61.5 %), mycological cultivation was positive by 98 patients (41.0 %).
