Summary:
The objective of the clinical studywas the assessment of the effect of a combined treatment with
thiocolchicoside and diclofenac in outpatients down with algic vertebrogenic lumboischialgic
syndrome, and simultaneously to follow up safety of the treatment and the frequency of
side-effects.
A total of 1226 patients were entered into the study, who suffered the above-mentioned
syndrome and met the required criteria. Each patient was examined by a physician at the
beginning of the study and on its termination (overall duration of therapy 7 days).
Each subjects assessed the degree of painfulness according to one’s own feelings, on termination
of the study also the effectivity of therapy. Out of 1196 probands a positive effect of the therapy
was observed in 1159 (96.9 %), 37 patients (3.1 %) noted no results of therapy.
Only 72 patients (6 %) rated the tolerance of the drugs as „bad“, in all other 1180 cases (94 %)
it was rated as „good“ to „very good“. No serious complication has been noted in the course of
treatment, in 187 subjects there was found at least on side-effect for which therapy was
interrupted in 38 of them.
The study demonstrated a great effectivity of this combined therapy (thiocolchicoside and
diclofenac) in outpatients suffering acute algic vertebrogenic syndrome and a good tolerance of
the drugs.
