The article deals with accidental hypothermia - a fall in the body core temperature to below 35 °C. The aim is to present an overview of the issue and familiarise the reader with the risk factors associated with hypothermia. čase studies are included that show that the medical care and treatment of hypothermia is also determined by tradition and culture. A new theory about thermoregulation of the body temperature is outlined in brief. The article reflects the personál experience of the author as well as an overview of the current literatuře.
